Introducing Google Home Service Ads (HSA’s)
Big changes are coming to how Google connects homeowners to Home Service providers in the form of their new Google Home Service Ads.
Here’s everything you need to know about HSA’s and how you can take advantage of this new interface.
The HSA ads will appear above all other components on the Google Search Results page. Home Service Ads will be triggered by search queries like ” House Cleaners in {your city} ” or ” Garage Door Installation in {your city}
Who This Will Impact
Google currently lists the following types of on-location service providers as home service providers that will be eligible for this program:
How Google Home Service Ads Work
When a potential customer searched Google for an on-site service listed above, the HSA’s will be triggered based on:
- Proximity
- Number of Reviews
- Review Rating
- Responsiveness to Quotes or Estimates
- Complaints
See Picture Below:
You can see that the HSA’s will compete for attention from the normal paid ads section. However, you will not be able to insert your own attention catching headline, it will simply be your business name along with your review rating and the Google Guaranteed Badge.
Once you click on “More Plumbers in San Diego” you can see the entire interface changes.
As a home service provider, one of your top digital priorities should be implementing a process to build positive reviews on your “Google My Business” Page.
It is apparent that this interface will directly compete with Lead providers like Home Advisor, Houzz, Thumbtack, and Angie’s List making them more and more irrelevant in the customer’s journey.
How Do You Sign Up
Right now HSA’s are in a closed beta for select Home Service Contractors located in Sothern California. It is expected that this program will roll out nationwide by the end of 2017.
So if you’re not located in SoCal, here’s what you need to do if you want to get a jump on your competition.
- Start building a stellar reputation on Google
- Optimize Your “Google My Business” Listing
- Build relevant Links to You Business Listing
- Meet all of The Google Advertising Policies
